Jayhawks finish 2nd at MCCAA Duals
Jayhawks go 2-1 but fall short of Southwestern to place 2nd.
On Saturday December 21, 2024 the Muskegon Jayhawks finish as runner-up in the MCCAA Dual Meet Championships. Head Coach Carpenter had a championship on his mind and nearly clipped the heavily favored Southwest Michigan Community College. "We had them in our sights, and we still do," exclaimed Coach Carpenter. "We are happy with the overall performance today, but we still have much to improve upon. We'll be gunning for them at the Tournament Championship at the end of January." En route to the 2nd place finish, the Jayhawks defeated the 19th ranked Henry Ford College 43-6, and Mott 51-6 before falling to Southwestern Michigan in the final 30-19. The day was highlighted by undefeated performances by Jack Guerrero, 2-0 at 125, Jimmy Thommen, 1-0 at 125, Joe Perez, 1-0 at 133, Kyren Zoet, 2-0 at 141, Garry Johnson III, 3-0 at 165, Harrison Meekhoff, 2-0 at 174, and Trevor Streeter, 1-0 at 174.
