Jayhawks Surge in Third Quarter to Defeat Kellogg, 67–59
Muskegon, Mich. — December 16, 2025
The Muskegon Community College Jayhawks used a dominant third-quarter performance to pull away from Kellogg Community College, securing a 67–59 home victory Tuesday evening at the Health & Wellness Center.
After a tightly contested first half that saw Kellogg take a slim 33–32 lead into the break, Muskegon flipped the momentum with a decisive 23–8 run in the third quarter. The Jayhawks' defensive pressure and control of the paint proved to be the difference, as they held Kellogg to just 23.1% shooting in the period while building an advantage they would not relinquish.
Shamari Hamilton led the Jayhawks offensively with 17 points, adding six assists and five steals in a strong all-around effort. Anna Lundquist chipped in 14 points, while Kamrin Ward was a force on the glass, recording a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 17 rebounds, anchoring Muskegon's interior presence.
Muskegon finished with advantages in several key areas, including points in the paint (42–32), second-chance points (19–13), and fast-break points (10–0). The Jayhawks also converted Kellogg turnovers into 21 points, helping offset some late pressure from the visitors.
Kellogg was paced by Dayshauna Crowley, who scored a game-high 23 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, while Alyssa McCavit added 12 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting performance. Despite their efforts, Kellogg struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 16.7% from three-point range on the night.
The Jayhawks improved to 3–5 overall with the win, showing continued growth and resilience as the season progresses. Muskegon will look to carry this momentum forward as they prepare for their next contest.
