The Muskegon Jayhawks lost a tough battle to an undefeated Lansing Stars squad 92-65 Tuesday night. The first half was a defensive standoff through the first 18 minutes of play as both teams were able to string together multiple stops in a row. However, the Stars went on a 9-0 run to end the first half giving them a 39-30 advantage heading into the second half of play.
The Stars continued their run in the beginning of the second half, and the Jayhawks were unable to recover. The Stars outscored the Jayhawks 53-35 after halftime. The Jayhawks featured just two double-digit scorers – freshman guard Darryl Thompkins Jr. finished with 12 points and six assists. Sophomore forward Ny'Zhem Marshall finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, two steals and three blocks. Freshman forward Landyn Smith added eight points and six rebounds in just seven minutes of play.
The loss pushes the Jayhawks record to 3-3. The Jayhawks hope to get back in the win column Saturday, November 22nd against the Southwestern Michigan College Roadrunners at the Health and Wellness Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
